It can involve identifying and setting up regional distributors or negotiating technology partnerships. The Business or Corporate Development individual often reports to the CEO and requires strategic and analytical skills that many former CEOs possess. These activities can often also lead to strategic relationships with other corporations that may lead to M&A (Merger & acquisitions) and/or corporate venture capital investments (CVC). Sometimes the Corporate Development role also assists the CEO and CEO with funding activities outside corporate relationships.
